Cong raps fighting leaders

New Delhi, July 28 -- The Congress on Wednesday strongly disapproved the open spat between former union minister Mani Shankar Aiyar and Indian Olympic Association chief Suresh Kalmadi over the holding of Commonwealth Games. "Seniority subsumes a certain sense of responsibility and we hope that those who are in senior positions would honour the sense of discretion when they speak in public on any issue," party spokesman Manish Tewari said. The party also termed "personal opinion" Aiyar's remarks that he would be "unhappy' if the Games became successful, prompting strong reaction from not only Kalmadi but many others in the party as well. Minister of State for Home Ajay Maken said Aiyar should not have made such remarks as the money had not only been spent on the games preparations but also on improving infrastructure. "Look at the Metro and flyovers. It is not only sports stadiums (that have been built)," Maken said.
